Here We Grow
Again!
By Robert Denson
As you all may know, Sunpiper Press has been
truly blessed since its creation and launch in September 2004. Since
that time, we had many naysayers and many giant slayers. We choose to
stick with the giant slayers and move onward and upwards towards the
goal we set to achieve—giving the reading audience what they want, not
just what we want to give them.
Sunpiper Press has
always and will always be a platform for new and emerging writers. It
is my belief that the literary community has embraced our idea because
it has embraced us. My assurance of this is the continuing rise of
readers coming to our online magazine. Again, I want to thank everyone
under the eyes of my readership—thank you very much for supporting
Sunpiper Press and most of all being a part of Sunpiper Press. Without
YOU, it would be nothing…but as P. Diddy would say, “We can’t stop,
won’t stop!” growing. I would like to share, with you, our plans for
the future of Sunpiper Press.
In case you did not
know, Sunpiper Press awarded a total of $1200 to 4 winners in its first
essay contests. The two grand-prize winners were Ms. Hannah Katch (high
school essay winner) and Mr. Anthony Roberts (college essay winner).
Along with these two winners, there were two essays I could not omit.
One by a Ms. Lindsey Keating who wrote passionately against the death
penalty and 14 year old, Mo Siddiq, who spoke of a dream. Along with
these awards, they were offered the opportunity to write monthly for
Sunpiper Press and share their views. I’m happy to report that each one
accepted the opportunity.
Beginning July of 2005,
come and read what the next generation has in store for us. These four
possess magnificent talent and I look forward to them sharing their
views with us all, on a monthly basis. If you have not read their
essays, I encourage you to visit
www.sunpiperpress.bravehost.com and read their views. You will sure
to be looking forward to their monthly views of our society.
Furthermore, Sunpiper
Press will soon be in print format as well as online. The print version
of Sunpiper Press will be more in-depth and there will be opportunities
to economically advertise independent books and products to our mailing
audience. Our goal is to have Sunpiper Press off the presses before the
end of 2005.
But we are not leaving
the online magazine behind…
Sunpiper Press is
interested in audio on our websites. In the near future, Sunpiper Press
will be producing not only print of stories and poetry, but audio of the
work as well. So you will have a choice! This will also give
opportunity to musicians who would like to share their musical gifts
with the audience…yes, the online press is necessary because you can’t
do any of these things in a print format; now can you?
There are many, many
more ideas in the process and we will inform you of them as soon as
procedures are locked into place. Again, our goal is to give our
audience WHAT THEY WANT. Thank you for subscribing to Sunpiper Press,
thank you for participating in Sunpiper Press and thank you for
supporting Sunpiper Press. We vow to keep on keeping on. But remember,
we ALWAYS need your input. Any suggestions are welcome. Please contact
us at
comments@sunpiperpress.com.
Again, thank you and we
are all looking forward to a successful future for you and Sunpiper
Press.
