Righteousness or Fear

How do we live
Day by day in and out
Obeying laws in fear
Or watching to be righteous
Holding tightly to a law
Designed to tell you what's wrong
Awaiting swift punishment
Or worse the devil's song
Are we afraid of unrighteousness
Running from the punishment of lawlessness
Or can we keep ourselves up under
Like an athlete training in harsh treatment
Could it be our own mentality
That prevents higher laws of change
Or must our souls stay trapped
With written laws to tame
